1kz-te Cylinder Head Crack
Since the crack in the head seems to be mostly around the cylinder 4 exhaust valve, my theory is that coolant was getting sucked into the cylinder somewhere at the end of the exhaust stroke and depositing on the top of the piston. Soch hardy sandhu lyrics. NEW HAVEN -- In the first debate since the Republican field of gubernatorial candidates shed a half-dozen candidates, a quartet of GOP contenders talked tough Monday night about immigrants, state spending, tolls, public-sector unions and Gov. Malloy — pretty much everything and everyone but each other. Replace Glow Plugs Last Updated on Fri, 25 May 2018 Toyota Hilux 1KZ TE The cylinder head and glow plug hole can seize up with carbon deposits. And if the glow plug is forcefully twisted when you remove it, the torsion can crack the ceramic. So keep removal of the glow plugs to a minimum.
I have done quite a few head swaps or repairs on them over the years, but recently I have been completely amazed by how crap they are again as about two months ago a freind was looking at purchasing a mid 90s Super Custom with 160 odd kms on the clock which had major head work done 3000+ks ago with just under $4000 worth of receipts from a reputable workshop for brand new STA(Chinise) head and all the related common things, I went with him to look at it, we did coolant leak/presure test, compression test and few other checks and motor acted like new, everything seemed legit like reciepts, records, kms etc so he purchased it and he even got me to do a EGR removal after he got it as thats a rumoured problem with these motors.
Anyway now fast forward to last week which is about 4-5000kms later he went to do an oil change an at the same time he checked the coolant an it was down by 700 to 1000ml so he toped it up then decided to check it a few days later, it was down again, was presurising the coolant system on free rev, so we took the head off, got it checked, it was soft and had a mild bow/warp in it! yes ive looked at everything related to the block that you can do in place like checked its flat with a good strait edge, looked for any damage anywhere etc and it seems mint.
This is far from the first time ive seen and heard of storys like this! so yeah. does anyone have any ideas!
Cylinder Head Repair
I recently bought a 2nd Hand Hilux but now have discovered it has a cracked head. Discovered when I towed my camper trailer and the temperature went through the roof because there was little if any coolant in the radiator. It must have been boiled off since I flushed and replaced the coolant when I purchased the vehicle.Anyway, I have exhaust communicating into the coolant system which is pressurising the radiator and losing coolant through heat and pushing it out to the overflow tank. Bubbles can be clearly seen from the overflow hose and the coolant gets dirty with carbon relatively quickly.
Apart from that, the engine still has heaps of power and there is no sign of oil / water contamination. Also no white smoke from the exhaust.
I have read on a different forum that these engines are renowned for cracking heads from 200K Km and that often the damage will not show up with pressure tests or even x-rays. But they are ALWAYS cracked. Advice is to not waste money and time on just replacing head gaskets or cheap ebay China heads.
So today I stripped the engine down to remove the head and need to start some research of what type of head I need for it and where to buy it from.
I think I will buy a complete head with the valves and cam-shaft already installed.
So I have three main questions for the forum members.
What are the brand names of the good ones?
Do I buy from a local engine rebuilder?
Does anyone recommend a company in Townsville?
Thanks for any help, Goldie
